AutoZone, Inc. DC Training Manager in Tolleson, Arizona

SUMMARY:

The Training Manager is responsible for standardizing and facilitating training classes for AutoZoners. Impacts new hires by developing safe, accurate and efficient AutoZoners through a robust training program which will ultimately reduce new hire turnover.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute and maintain “Train the Trainer” program

  • Evaluate trainer needs each quarter

  • Partner with advisors to choose AutoZoners to become trainers

  • Evaluate each shift for needed trainers

  • Promote need for trainers each quarter

  • Schedule and facilitate train the trainer classes quarterly or as business dictates

  • Evaluate and monitor trainers

  • Establish a database to track trainers and new hire progress

  • Quarterly review current list of trainers

  • Remove any trainer that does not currently meet the requirements to be a trainer

  • Retrain or replace trainers as needed

  • Schedule a meeting at the end of each quarter with operations to discuss trainer progress and results

  • Review feedback from new hires

  • Review turnover and injury count by trainer

  • Review turnover and injury count by department

  • Schedule quarterly meeting with trainers to discuss the program, issues that need to be resolved and for any retraining needs

  • New Hires

  • Ensure all New Hire Training Packets are kept up to date, filled out correctly, and signed by appropriate management

  • Ensure each new hire is assigned a trainer by Advisor or Ops Manager

  • Attend weekly DC management meeting to keep the management team informed of new hires working on their shifts and their progress. Gather feedback from the management team on new hires and trainers.

  • Evaluate the progress of the new hires

  • Maintain training records for new hires

  • Collect feedback from the new hire about their trainer

  • Have one on one conversation with the new hire after their first week

  • Review comments in the Training Packet

  • Discuss opportunities in the new hire’s initial training with their advisor

  • Reassign the original trainer or assign a new trainer to address misses in training

  • Re-evaluate the new hire training program and make changes to content if needed

  • Review 30-60-90 day Evaluations and Coaching Sessions for opportunities with new hires

  • Schedule meetings between new hires and DCM/Ops Manager

  • Ensure yourself, the trainer and the advisor are aligned before the new hire is no longer working with a trainer

  • Facilitate cross training for trainers

  • Evaluate trainer needs by department – cross train trainers in those departments

  • DC Orientation

  • Attend new hire orientation and assist as needed

  • Be prepared to facilitate orientation if needed

  • Give a preview of the training process to new hires

  • Assist with recertification and training after an injury, critical incident, near miss or injury event

  • Partner with the DC Safety Manager to understand the cause for each injury and critical incident

  • Use training materials to recertify the AutoZoner

  • Update training as needed to address the cause of the event

  • Facilitate any training requested by management

  • Evaluate training needs of advisors and management and facilitate training classes for those topics

  • Assists with DC Mentoring Program (part of AIT program)

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years successful experience in a supervisory/advisor level role. Prefer prior training experience.

Must be certified to operate Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE)
